Bridal makeup looks from the runway
Unlike what’s shown on the spectacular Parisian runways, the makeup worn by models at Bridal Fashion Week in New York can be easily translated for regular women. We went backstage at the recent shows to capture our favorite looks. Share them (and the products used to create them) with your stylist and makeup artist.

(Priscilla of Boston)
To make bold, bright lipstick last, fill in lips with a neutral-colored lipliner. Then apply lipstick with a lip brush, blot with a tissue, add a bit of powder, reapply, and blot again.
Bridal makeup looks: Dramatic plum eyes, wine-colored lips, loose chignon
For a long-wearing finish, mix a powder shadow with an eye shadow transformer (a clear liquid that turns powder into liquid eyeliner), then use a brush to apply it along the top and bottom lash line.
Wedding makeup looks Thick black eyeliner Angel Sanchez
Thick black eyeliner + full lashes + sophisticated updo at Angel Sanchez
Even if you’re going for a natural look, don’t dismiss the idea of false eyelashes—they make eyes really pop in photos (like these, taken backstage at the show). Apply mascara, wait for it to dry, then add a half strip of eyelashes using dark-tinted lash glue.
Wedding makeup looks Subdued, Natural Adele Wechsler
Subdued, natural makeup + voluminous, romantic waves at Adele Wechsler
Set your makeup without building more color or coverage than you need by using a big, fluffy brush dipped in translucent powder—the wide surface area of the brush ensures a sheer finish.
Bridal makeup looks Fresh face Christos
Fresh face + pinky-red lips + slightly undone updo at Christos
Makeup will last longer (and look better) on properly prepped skin, so give yourself a mini facial a few days before your wedding with an exfoliating brush to smooth, brighten, and firm.
Wedding makeup looks at Romona Keveza
Mild smoky eye + soft pink cheeks + demure French twist at Romona Keveza
For a more delicate version of a smoky eye, use a soft gray, rather than black, waterproof pencil. Keep cheeks supersweet with a sheer gel blush.
Rivini Bridal makeup looks
Intense black eyeliner + peach cheeks + bright pink lips at Rivini
For a soft daytime look, trade in dark black eyeliner for dark brown.
Wedding makeup looks Ines Di Santo
“Invisible” smoky eyes + low side ponytail at Ines Di Santo
A dot of silver shadow at the center and inner corners of the eyes makes them stand out.
