Vera Wang: Runway Inspiration for Kim Kardashian’s Wedding Gown
In a surprise move that came as a surprise to no one, reality star Kim Kardashian announced that her wedding gown will be designed by Vera Wang.
Kim Kardashian Chooses Vera Wang as Her Bridal Designer
“Vera has been a close family friend for a long time, and we had talked about this moment for years,” Kim said on her blog. “When it came to picking my wedding dress designer, she was the first person I thought of. No one designs gowns the way she does!” When Kim stopped by Wang’s New York studio in June, she reportedly asked the designer’s entire staff to sign confidentiality contracts—which makes it all the more odd that she made this announcement now.
But come her wedding day on August 20 (and the E! special to follow), we’ll finally see what the game of bridal designer hide-and-seek has been about. And it better be good!
Runway Inspiration for Kim Kardashian’s Wedding Gown
Before word came down from on high confirming Kim Kardashian’s wedding gown designer, we (like everyone else) had a hunch Vera Wang would top the list of possibilities.
After all, she designed Khloe Kardashian’s dress a year ago, she’s a close friend of the K-named family, and… she’s Vera Wang. A closer look at the designer’s most recent runway shows might provide a few clues as for what to expect on Kim’s wedding day: For starters, Vera knows how to work a booty-poppin’ body. Her high-waisted, curve-accentuating silhouettes are a perfect fit (literally) for the reality star’s famous figure.
Better still, Vera’s daft hand with fabric means we could see an unexpected shape on Kim, perhaps in the neckline or the skirt (although a peplum on those hips might not be the best idea). Being that Ms. Kardashian is somewhat of a fashion risk-taker, there’s even a slight chance she’ll wear one of Vera’s favored muted tones.
Khloe’s dress featured a purple sash, so maybe Kim will go head-to-toe? Of course, if all else fails, there’s always that attention-grabbing fallback option: gold.
