Doughnuts wedding cake!
Cupcakes still reign at weddings, but doughnuts might be the next big thing—we’ve seen the sugary breakfast snack moonlight in dessert displays and even as a late-night snack served to revelers on the dance floor. But this is a first: a doughnut-studded wedding cake!
The bottom tier of this fondant-covered cake is decorated with rows of maple-glazed mini doughnuts and crowned with a jumbo-size one. IMO, doughnuts make much tastier cake decorations than, say, crumbly sugar flowers, any day.

This is one of the coolest wedding cakes I’ve seen in a while—a modern take on the popular silhouette motif, with handpainted scribbles throughout. The design was inspired by the couple’s creative wedding invitation (right), which resembles a notebook page covered in doodles. To create the wedding cake, Melody Brandon of Sweet and Saucy Shop cut the silhouettes from fondant and painted all of the words and illustrations by hand.
